Duncombe House

Project Outline:
Duncombe House is a Grade II listed, classically proportioned, Derbyshire stone house. The former dwelling of John and Elizabeth Green, the estate manager and manageress of the Calwich Abbey Estate on the Derbyshire Staffordshire border.

Project Summary:
Beyond its fantastic and self-evident insulative properties, the most remarkable thing for us was how pleasant Thermafleece slab insulation was to use. It turned the job of insulating from a messy, uncomfortable and unpleasant task to one we genuinely looked forward to. Unlike synthetic alternatives which irritate the skin and eyes this product is a true delight to work with.

• The slabs were fantastically easy to friction fit between our ceiling joists.
• Thermafleece slabs give a tight and thermally efficient fit.
• The slabs were easily tailored using shears which made creating an excellent thermal envelop so easy.
• So soft and fabulous even our dog loved it.

Installation details:
We used Thermafleece CosyWool to insulate our loft space during an extensive back to brick renovation. We layered the insulation between and above the joists but have also added thinner rolled Thermafleece wool in-between our wood fibre boards and roof joists on the tricky gables.
