Wells Shepherd Huts

Project Outline: Our most recent hut build is a 23 ft x 8ft 4” Crofter’s hut. The Crofters hut has to be for us the crème de la crème of luxury glamping, this larger than standard hut allows for that extra room to indulge in relaxation and not feel guilty. Guests will be amazed at the space available and all the luxuries that are to be found inside this truly amazing hut.

This shepherd’s hut comprises of an oak L shaped kitchen, bathroom, oak double bed with storage below, seating area, an oak table, engineered oak flooring, oak windows, large oak stable door and oak steps. This hut is insulated with Thermafleece British sheeps wool in the roof, walls and floor.

Design and Installation Criteira

• As the iconic shepherd huts once allowed the farmers to support the sheep we wanted to give something back to the farmers by using Sheep’s wool insulation and giving the fleece value once again.
• We wanted a breathable product which would make for a healthy building
• A natural sustainable material which would not pollute the environment containing no toxic preservatives
• Insulation which would not irritate the skin, or release harmful dust particles into the air

Project Outline
The designs of the shepherd’s huts we produce are based around the proportions left behind from the Victorian’s and their shepherd’s huts. These wriggly tined, curved roofed structures that have the cast iron wheels set outside of the body of the hut can be called a shepherd hut. This contrasts with the living van that has cast or sometimes tyre wheels set underneath the body. These living vans were used by road workers and were generally moved along the roads by traction engines.
